TOUR RECAP

South Island Workshops
(2017 – 2022)
Recap and images by Daniel Murray
In early 2017 I joined forces with fellow New Zealand landscape photographers Lee Cook and Rach Stewart to run @purephotoadventures.nz. Over the next five years we ran a total of 15 highly successful workshops around the South Island, varying in length from 4 to 7 days, with each trip involving between 8 and 10 clients.
Our very first workshop in late 2017, timed with the lupin flowering season in the Mackenzie Basin, sold out in less than a few hours. It was then we knew we were onto something special! Our offerings grew quickly from there, with multiple trips across Autumn, Winter, and Spring.
Like many businesses around the world, COVID-19 had a massive impact. The uncertain times led to us running far less trips, and eventually, we all got busy with other things and @purephotoadventures.nz came to an end.
I’m incredibly grateful for those five years. It taught me a huge amount about how to run a successful photography tour business, and I’m super excited to be bring that knowledge and skills to Epic South.
